The developmental domains of physical, cognitive, emotional/social and language all “interlock” with each other as teachers implement activities daily that overlap between domains. There is one domain though that is the “key” to unlocking all other areas of development and that is the language domain. This training will discuss the developmental stages of language, types of language, how language affects other areas of development and activities/interventions that all teachers can do in their classrooms to support language development with not only verbal students, but even how to teach language skills to nonverbal students also. We will be sharing some American Sign Language (ASL) activities in addition to other strategies from researched interventions.
