SUMMARY:Stokes- Resilience: Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope Film screening and discussion
DESCRIPTION:Researchers have recently discovered a dangerous biological syndrome caused by abuse and neglect during childhood. As the new documentary Resilience reveals\, toxic stress can trigger hormones that wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of children\, putting them at a greater risk for disease\, homelessness\, prison time\, and early death. While the broader impacts of poverty worsen the risk\, no segment of society is immune. Resilience\, however\, also chronicles the dawn of a movement that is determined to fight back. Trailblazers in pediatrics\, education\, and social welfare are using cutting-edge science and field-tested therapies to protect children from the insidious effects of toxic stress—and the dark legacy of a childhood that no child would choose. The training will involve a preview of the film\, roundtable discussion on the topic as it relates to child development and the early childhood classroom. The training will look at the connection between the aspects of the film and NC Foundations roundtable discussion on the topic as it relates to child development and the early childhood classroom. \nPresenter: Shanda Cox\, Child Care Resource and Referral Coordinator & Melissa Kirkland\, Behavior and Inclusion Support \nSpecialist \nCost: $5.00 \n2.0 DCDEE Contact Hours \nDeadline to register: 4/30/20 \nSessions offered in counties other than Forsyth County may have different registration requirements.
\nPresenter: Shanda Cox\, Child Care Resource and Referral Coordinator & Melissa Kirkland\, Behavior and Inclusion Support Specialist \nCost: $5.00 \n2.0 DCDEE Contact Hours \nDeadline to register: 2/07/20 \nSessions offered in counties other than Forsyth County may have different registration requirements. SUMMARY:Davie -Change Is Hard! But It Doesn’t Have to Hurt
DESCRIPTION:Experts estimate that 20-30% of a young child’s day involves transitioning from one activity to another. That’s a lot of moving and a lot of wasted time! Unless teachers plan transitions as carefully and intentionally as they plan the rest of their day\, that time can be stressful and frustrating for teachers and children alike. Participants will identify the transitions in their daily schedule\, determine ways to eliminate some transitions\, and learn strategies to support smooth transitions. \nThe training is free unless a teacher wants to attend from outside Davie County. If that is the case\, there is a fee of $15. They register on the above website or they can call the David County office at 751-2113. \nPresenter: Renae Lingafelt-Beeker\, M.Ed.\, Behavior Specialist~Region 10 \nCost: $0.00 \nCredit: 2 DCDEE hour \n  \n

SUMMARY:Stokes County- Resilience: Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope Film screening and discussion
The training will involve a preview of the film\, round-table discussion on the topic as it relates to child development and the early childhood classroom. The training will look at the connection between the aspects of the film and NC Foundations round-table discussion on the topic as it relates to child development and the early childhood classroom. \nPresenter: Shanda Cox\, Child Care Resource and Referral Coordinator & Melissa Kirkland\, Behavior and Inclusion Support \nSpecialist \nCost: $5.00 \n2.0 DCDEE Contact Hours \nDeadline to register: 10/14/19 \nSessions offered in counties other than Forsyth County may have different registration requirements.
