Description: Participants will receive an overview of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) giving them the knowledge to identify SIDS risk factors and describe ways to reduce the risk of SIDS in child care. The national standards for sleep safety will be presented and resources will be shared for both child care providers and parents. Topics include NC SIDS Laws, child care licensing rules for safe sleep, as well as how to develop a safe sleep policy. Key messages of this training include engaging in safe sleep practices and creating a safe sleep environment for infants and toddlers.
This training meets the criteria of a Health and Safety Training Topic. Child Care Rules require health and safety trainings to be completed once every 5 years. Smart Start of Yadkin County offered the initial Health and Safety Trainings back in 2017. We are starting a new rotation so that all 11 trainings will be offered again within the 5-year time frame. Please review your Health and Safety Training Record or call our office (336-679-7833) for more information.
All in-person trainings will be limited to 8 participants to allow for social distancing. If a waiting list is created, a duplicate training date will be set.
