Online – Getting Sticky – Strategies for Increasing Literacy Engagement in Summer School Age Programs

Do you have difficulty engaging youth in literacy? Are you

frustrated with the challenges our youth continue to face with

meeting grade level reading proficiency? Do you wish there was

something that you could do? This training is for YOU!

The goal of this learning event is to assist afterschool providers with

creating high quality summer literacy activities. Participants will be

introduced to enriching strategies to increase youth and family

engagement in summer literacy. In addition, participants will learn

why literacy is important in afterschool and reflect on their current

literacy practices.

Course requirements to earn the CEU certificate include attending an online session, reading handouts, video vignettes, interactive

online activities, and passing a post knowledge assessment with a score of 90% or higher (multiple attempts allowed).

Attendees can join GoToMeeting from a Mac, PC, IPad, iPhone,or

Active participation is required in the online event

Participants in the online event will be required to complete approximately 30 minutes of pre/post work

assignments and participate in 90 minutes of online coursework.
